Sculptra is an injectable cosmetic dermal filler that can be used to treat signs of aging on facial skin and restore facial volume lost due to aging or illness. Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) which is a synthetic, biocompatible substance that is used for multiple medical applications aside from dermal injections. Sculptra stimulates collagen production in patients with a healthy immune system, allowing tissue to volumize gradually, making it beneficial in the treatment of deep lines, creases, and folds to give a more youthful appearance.

The lasting effects of Sculptra depend on the treatment area, a patient’s age, and personal body composition. • Apply a cold pack wrapped in a towel or face cloth to the treatment area for a few minutes at a time. This should be repeated for the first 24 hours to reduce any swelling at the treatment area.
• Massage 5/5/5. That is to massage the treatment area 5 times a day, for 5 minutes a day, for 5 days.
• Avoid excessive sunlight or UV lamp exposure until any swelling or redness has resolved.

It is common and expected to not notice much of a difference immediately after treatment. This is due to the fact that the water carrier in Sculptra may provide a filling effect, but this water is absorbed into the body within a few days of treatment. Patients report progressive visible results within a few weeks of each treatment session, and may take up to 3 to 5 months to see a noticeable difference.
